David Foster Wallace on talk radio
I’ve always gotten a lot of enjoyment out of David Foster Wallace’s writing. The new Atlantic Monthly features a simply incredible 23 page long article in which DFW examines the world of talk radio. One of the most impressive things about the printed version of this (there is also a pdf download for subscribers as straight html just wasn’t up to the task) is the method used to contain his characteristic endnotes and place them alongside the text in a way that doesn’t interrupt the flow of the piece, and adds an enourmous amount of color to the text. Check it when you’re near a newstand this month.
